Summary

Legends whisper of the Wishweaver, a fruit that grants a wish to those brave enough to find it. Only when the forest cloaks itself in an ethereal mist, thick enough to swallow sound, does this pearlescent fruit reveal itself. Some tales speak of treacherous terrain guarding its secrets, while others hint at elusive creatures, watchful sentinels of the Wishweaver's hidden bounty. The fruit itself is described as pearlescent and pear-shaped, with a single teardrop-shaped seed at its core.

Historical Basis

The Reality
:
The Wishweaver is real, but its power lies not in magic but in a potent opioid. This opioid affects humans and saurians more intensely than other creatures, inducing vivid hallucinations that feel real to the user. Consuming the fruit creates a euphoric experience where the deepest desires manifest within the hallucination, leading to the belief in wish fulfillment.

The Wishweaver, in truth, grows of a shrub that thrives in a specific and hostile environment, It requires a confluence of conditions: the thick, salty mist during certain seasons (mistaken for magic by some) and a sandy substrate. These conditions create a harsh and unforgiving habitat, where few plants can survive, let alone bear fruit, and are only available on costal sites not in forests.

  Evidence of Existence:
The existence of the Dreamfruit is shrouded in mystery. There are no physical specimens, only fleeting tales of explorers who ventured into the woods when shrouded in mist, to add to the myth some never return; or those who returned babbling about fantastical experiences. Some cultures revere the Dreamfruit, as they named it, as a gateway to the spirit world, while others believe it's a curse, driving men mad with impossible dreams.

Spread

The Wishweaver myth is a well-known legend amongst humans and saurians, few know that the legend begins in coastal settlements. It is often passed down through generations orally, with embellishments and variations depending on the storyteller. However, knowledge of the fruit's true effects is a closely guarded secret among shamans and herbalists.

Variations & Mutation

Saurians: Saurians, view the Dreamfruit as a powerful tool for lucid dreaming. Their version of the myth focuses on using the fruit to access hidden knowledge and forgotten memories within the dreamscape. And some legends about wise shamans using the fruit to commune with the gods.

Gnomes: Less affected by the fruit, treat the Dreamfruit as a curiosity. They believe in a mischievous forest spirit that creates it and uses it in elaborate pranks, substituting the fruit for normal pears to induce temporary dreamlike confusion in their victims.
