Church of the Leviathans (ʧɜːʧ ɒv ðə lɪvaɪəθənz)

The Leviathans were first only seen as gigantic beasts, however this outlook on them quickly changed once it was discovered that their blood is the source of a new kind of power - Magic. The knowledge that they are something beyond our understanding - living and walking gods - have quickly begun to spread. And eventually enough proof was given for the Church to be born.

Disbandment

The church disbanded and was renamed to the Church of the Old Gods once the Leviathans started to be found dead all across the globe.

Mythology & Lore

The Leviathans created the universe, and life. A garden for them to live in harmony, from plants to creatures. However one of them, Vans-thator was unable to create nice things, and thus the other Leviathans have forbidden its creations. Angered by their exclusion, Vans-thator has started a rebellion, and created his army, an army of monsters. The Leviathans cared for their creations, and in order to protect them from the monsters, they chased us (their creations) away from the monsters and into a place where we can survive, and grow strong enough to one time face these monsters of Vans-thator.

Divine Origins

The teachings and mythology of the church was first established by The Faithful , however it only became popular once we discovered the magical properties of Leviathan Blood. Eventually The Faithful were deemed too dangerous and were chased into the Underdark, and a more modern set of beliefs was born, under the name of the Church of Leviathans.

Cosmological Views

The Leviathans have agreed that they need a place to live together, so they pooled their strength to create the universe. Then they created Dali'en, as a garden for them to live in.

Tenets of Faith

Those that live admirably, are kind to others, and worship the Leviathans will be reborn as an animal spirit, to live their afterlife on the Surface, among the Leviathans, unbothered by monsters. And those that lack faith, or sin, will live out their afterlife as a Demon, forever suffering in the Seven Hells.

Worship

Through prayer, rituals with incense, and song. And acting worthy of a good afterlife.

Priesthood

Those that deeply devote themselves to the faith often gain magical powers through it, especially in the form of Divination. These dali are described as Clerics. Clerics are respected by the church, even those that don't stay and become Priests.

Granted Divine Powers

Through their blood, Magic exists. Through them one might develop the ability to wield this tremendous power. Either through their blood in your veins, through studying them, through faith in them, through your connection to them, or through your connection to the world they created.
