Essence
Essence is a name coined by Artificers for a material commonly found inside Magical Items that new Magical Items cannot be made without.
We do not know much about it, except that its most precise description would be that it is the Soul of Magical Items. This is an inaccurate description though, because it is very different from Souls in actuality, but it's a good enough definition for most to grasp the concept.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Essence becomes one with the item it's attached to, however once detached it depicts a few interesting physical characteristics. It hovers much like it wasn't affected by gravity, and floats towards where it's pushed. It can be pushed and interacted with due to its semi-solid state, whereby it reacts to physical forces, although does it with a bit of a delay, making it a difficult material to work with.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Even though it looks much like how one would imagine a Soul to look like, all experiments to attach Essence to anything other than items have failed. When attached to constructs such as the Forged, it does not attach to the entire being, only to a non-living part of it. Essence also does not display any characteristics that would suggest that it's living, unlike Spirits it does not move on its own, nor have any mechanisms and outside-of-the-expected reactions to external stimuli.
