Monster Talisman (mɒnstə tælɪzmən)
Monster Talisman is a game that's popular among children. It tests your Intelligence, and Dexterity. It's played with little talismans with a monster's image and some game-related stats etched into the front, and abilities and lore etched into the back. The game mainly got popularized to teach children about the dangers of the world.
History
Thorought the years many talismans have been updated, and older versions of the updated monsters have been taken out of circulation. Sometimes they fetch quite the price for a collector.
Execution
It's played on a table or a flat surface, you place the talismans in front of yourself, and put barriers in-between that you and your opponent agree on. You play on initiative order. A monster either dies by losing all its hp, or by falling off the table or the surface. Damage calculation occurs when two talismans hit each other. The attacker (the one that bumped into the other) strikes first, and the defender strikes back only if they survived.
Components and tools
Talismans have: hp, attack, initiative, action (special effects that trigger on their own turn), reaction (special effects that trigger in specific conditions). They are round shaped, the illustration is etched into the middle, and the values are around. The back contains lore, the action, and sometimes reaction. Everything uses the Common language.
Some collector's edition talismans have a small piece of Blood Crystal in them, and they project the image of the monster using Illusion.
