Royalblood (rɔɪəlblʌd)

Royalblood was a hereditary noble title for a family that has served the settlement for over a thousand years. The highest noble title a family could achieve without direct rule. Following its discontinuation the less powerful Noble title took over as the hereditary title.

Appointment

There was a celebration / ceremony that accompanied the giving out of the title, usually paid for by the settlement itself. The golden blood drop was given to each family member that attended (but often times was only given symbolically). Not all Royalblood family members were required to attend.

Duties

Their reputation heavily influenced the settlement's reputation and vice versa. Royalbloods were the de facto public face of the settlement, because even though Rulers changed, the Royalblood families didn't.

Benefits

The Rulers did almost anything to be in their good grace, which usually came with monetary and political benefits. Their support basically decided who the next Ruler was going to be. The head of the family was the primary advisor of the Ruler too.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

It was lost only when the bloodline died out.

History

The title got discontinued in 681 AoC, meaning no new Royalblood titles were to be granted after that, even to those born in Royalblood families, resulting in a slow phasing out of the title.

Notable Holders

The three most notable Royalblood families were the Manvars, the Amiris, and the Erni'ens.
