Half-Elf

Civilization and Culture

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Neither elf nor human looks upon half-elves (also called half-humans) favorably. Historically, if the parents were a loving union, they would be seen as traitors to their species, and the half-elven offspring resulting are physical representations of that. Those born of other unions are not looked upon much more favorably, although there may at least be pity there. If possible to blend in, they may hide one half or the other of their ancestry in an attempt to fit in.   Derogatory terms for half-elves include mixed-breed, half-breed, halfling, and muddleblood. Elves may call them short-ear, while humans may call them tin-ear or sharp-ear. These are not terms used fondly.
