Seraphya

Queen Seraphya

King Valarian’s mother was named Seraphya. She was known for her exceptional beauty, grace, and a kind-hearted spirit that endeared her to both her people and those within the elven court. As a devoted mother, she instilled in her children the values of compassion, justice, and empathy, fostering their sense of duty and responsibility towards their realm. Seraphya played a pivotal role in nurturing Valarian's innate wisdom and guiding him in understanding the delicate balance between justice and mercy, ultimately shaping him into the wise and just ruler he became. Her passing at a relatively young age left a profound impact on Valarian, and he carried her memory and teachings within his heart, finding solace in the gentle guidance she had bestowed upon him.

Personal history

Not a lot is known about Seraphya. She was married to Prince Calarian and came from a noble family, but the records are lost to say which family this was, or if she was even from within the same kingdom. Together, before his tragic death in the prime of his life, they had four children. The first was Elaria, then Aderyn, then Seraphine, followed by their son Valarian. With the daughters young and Valarian only an infant of two years, Calarian was slain in battle with the human forces. His brother Aurelian passed two years later.   Calarian’s last remaining sibling, his brother Eldorian had no children and married Seraphya, adopting the children she had had with his brother as his own and naming Valarian his heir. Seraphya’s opinions on this are lost to history, but theirs was said to be a loving union. This also secured her children’s places in the royal family, especially the question of who would inherit the throne next: Eldorian, Elowen’s last remaining son, or Valarian, the son of Elowen’s oldest son. With Eldorian, Seraphya had two more children, daughters Amara and Isolde.   She died when Valarian was twenty-six, but no records survive indicating the cause of death. It is believed that she ascended to Fhe Dorei as a luminary.
