"With the flames of the youth quelled, we give our young the keys to the future."— Ignosi Elder
On
Ignosi Island, there is a yearly celebration for all the younger
Natuzans who manage to control their Pyro Arcanis. Once they have passed a series of tests, the younger member gets to take part in the celebration known as the Fanning of the Flames.
The Fanning of the Flames is a week-long event for the old to celebrate the successes of the young, and for the young to indulge in their passions and pleasures. It is common to hear the chief of the Ignosi tribe say that fire is the element of passion, and this celebration is a way for the tribe to remember that.
Events
First Day
The first day is dedicated to announcing the Natuzans who passed the tests needed to be proficient in wielding Pyro. All the young people will circle around a special bonfire, create a flame and place it inside this bonfire. That is where the name of the celebration comes from.
After this ceremony, there are more events to celebrate. This involves giving each person a gift bag that contains all sorts of snacks and gifts for the young one. Some people who impressed the Elders a lot also get something more at the end of the day, but this special gift is different for each person.
Rest of the Week
The next few days are for the tribe to party. Every Natuzan on the
Floating Isles knows what time of year it is when they start hearing loud music and singing long after the day is gone. Although the celebration is the perfect excuse to party, the Ignosi tribe use the celebration to teach one final lesson for the Pyro Element: emotions are not to be feared or ignored, or the consequences will be deadly. The celebration is a space for everyone to indulge their wildest emotions and dreams without fear of consequences or repurcussions.
Towards the end of the week, the Fanning of the Flames starts to wind down. But people are welcome to continue celebrating to their hearts content. When the celebration ends, it doesn't mean that the young should go back to fearing the flames. On the contrary, their Fanning event should mean that they are better equipped to using Pyro Arcanis properly. And if not, the entire tribe comes back each year anyway, so there's plenty of time to learn on the go.
