Geography
Lowlands
The lowlands of Chúunul are primarily dense jungle and tropical rainforest, with increasingly dense foliage the further inland one progresses. Civilization resides primarily along the northern coast, as well as along the banks of many of the larger rivers. There are two main regions to the lowlands, the North & the West, separated by a few crags that spread away from the main mountain range.
Northern Lowlands
The Northern Lowlands contain the most fertile soil on the entire island, fed by a series of large rivers flowing downward from the mountains. Here is where you will find the largest settled population, small farms and villages dotted along the banks of rivers and tributaries.
Western Lowlands
The Western Lowlands are sparsely populated. The Shazian Federation & Free Cities have sent explorers into the jungles, but no party has managed to return. Not willing to waste any more resources on yet more jungle, the Order has determined that quarantining the zone is the most effective way to manage the area.
The Border
As the Lowlands rise up to meet the mountains that bisect the land, they come together in a natural cleft of flat rock and soil, wherein rests a lake. The Lake is the natural border that divides the Lowlands & Highlands. Lake is a bit of a misnomer however, as no natural explanation exists for how The Lake was formed.
The best description of The Lake is a series of crisscrossing rents in the earth, filled with the runoff from the mountains surrounding it. Deep, hundred-foot trenches dig into the rock, leaving columns of solid rock peeking above the water's surface.
The border city of Pakaru-Roto rests on top of these pillars, separating the two halves of the island since Lothal first extended past the highlands.
