Lugeas

Important in Celestial Naviation

Lugeas is the most important star in the well-known Teldrinne Constellation, which is named after the Old Fae Teldrinne, who is worshipped in the Ilk-nean Faith. The star is very important for navigation by sea in Dysvoll and is used by sailors to make their way around the continent.   The star of Lugeas lies in the top edge of the constelation, in the tip of what many refer to as being Teldrinnes sword or shield, depending on the culture.
Historical records show that the ancient people known as the Hanones primarily used the star we call Lugeas for navigation, just as it is common to do currently.   Fascinating, right!

Origin of the Name

The name of the Guiding Star comes from one of Teldrinnes children. Her third-born son Lugeas, was known for his wits and his incredible close-combat skills with a sword. He was known for spending much of his adult life protecting his mother by leading the guards that attended her.   This is why the sword Teldrinne is seen holding in the constellation has the tip of the sword or shield named after this particular child of hers, since he was ready to combat and protect her from anything that could be a threat. The star is, due to this myth, also often regarded as a protector of those who need protection, often the seafarers who use the star as a guide.

Imbued with Soul

Many say, that the reason why Lugeas' star shines so much brighter than the rest is, that when Lugeas died protecting his mother, he chose to go to the heavens where he would guide her and watch over her. When she died, she joined him in the constellation.   Some say other family members and beloved friends follow, but the myths concerning them always differ greatly.

Prayers to Lugeas

Common prayers for followers of the Ilk-nean Faith also includes Lugeas. Many ask him to watch over their loved ones, if they're in any sort of danger. Whether it be from war, crossing the seas or medical complications.

I like that the star is used for navigation, both in the present and in the past. I also really like the myth behind it :D
