Magical World Dominance
A popular conspiracy theory
A common myth, which usually suggests that magic users have infiltrated many important seats and control most of Dysvoll to their advantage. People who believe this myth are generally very much against spell-casters and everything they stand for and are able to do.
A myth born of hate
This myth has been popular for hundreds of years, both in circles stricken by poverty as well as in the higher circles of society. Many communities harbour a distrust towards Spell-casters. This is to be expected though, not necessarily because it's true, but rather because that's the narrative they've been fed their entire lives.Week of terrors
The myth became prominent around Dysvoll in the years prior to the 1372 conflict known as the Week of Terrors, where many spell-casters were targeted by the different governments around the world. They were arrested in great numbers, and many citizens saw this as an opportunity to raid the homes and businesses of the arrested Spell-casters.Common points of the myth
Common parts of this myth dictates that Fae Marked people all work for some magical overlord, perhaps a Fae.
They're said to be doing the bidding of this mysterious puppet master with intentions to hurt and cripple human societies.
Furthermore, many believe that these puppet spell-casters are like empty shells, either devoid of any personality or simply lacking empathy all-together.
My mom says I can't play with you, you have a mark... Sorry.
Some Truth to it
Though most see this as probable and some see it as the utmost truth, they have no real evidence of it. However, they aren't completely wrong in their accusations regarding some magic users having a lot of influence around the world. There is a secret society operating around Dysvoll known to the members as the Hermetic Order of the Elusive Spirit. This organization is dedicated to finding the Spirit Pen of Yailiken. However, in more recent years they've also begun striding for status and riches for its members. This is partly done through securing important positions in high places. However, the order has never worked for the fae nor anybody else. They act on their own, with orders from within the organization and not from the outside.I don't trust the government one bit these days! I'm sure the magic people have gotten to them - have gotten access to their minds!
Yeah, it's not very surprising that this is a conspiracy theory, considering the prejudice of some people towards those who are Fae-marked. I feel very sorry for the kids in this, though. I also like that there is a little bit of truth to this, too.
