Brython Knights of the Realm

Knights of the Realm

The Brython Knights are a collection of mostly military persons chosen by the Brython Lordship for their meritorious service to the Realm. The title comes with prestige, access to resources, sovereignty, and almost always command of some sort.
It also comes with the task of protecting the Realm from all threats foreign and domestic.
The Knights first came into service during the Dark Age on Brython, each was a protector or enforcer of a powerful Lord. Often they were pitted against other knights as their Lords vied for power and resources. They rose to prominence until the Dark Fields fell and the worlds industrial age began.  It was not until the Age of Discovery that the Knights once again rose during their first massive civil war.   After the Brython Star cluster was secured as a united Realm the Cassads discovered them. The demand from the Cassads was simple; Submit to their growing Empire.
The Knights did not submit. Until this point Brython Knights were extensions of their Lord masters. But when threatened from outside of the cluster the Knights united as an Order for the first time and repelled the Cassads.
But their initial victories were not to last and their fledgling order ended as the knights fell one after another. The Cassads, ordered the Lordship executed as punishment for the their resistance. And so they began to eliminate the Brython royalty until the Prime Cathol lead a group of clergy against them alongside the few remaining military knights. A new knight order rose and saved the remaining Realm hierarchy.
An armistice... the knights held off the complete takeover of the Realm but the Brythons submitted to Cassad rule.

Present Day

While most knights are primarily military, there are several Brythons knighted from other backgrounds. The Prime Cathol was knighted by the previous Prime Cathol who was also a Knight but the number of clerical knights is minute compared to military vocations.
Each Knight of the Realm is unique. Possibly one of the prerequisites Lords demand when knighting someone is that the candidate is bringing something NEW to the group. Though that uniqueness may not be apparent to most.
