Michanikós Klóstis
Michanikós (prefers Michan) was born to Sora Klóstis and Yuleas Klóstis, the only child of Heliusa Klóstis, on Kruqesk 7th, 2001 EoL in the Vol'nische Palace of the Sheltered Inlands District. For most of his life, Michan has been raised in the confines of the royal palace, so he knows little about the outside world. Everything he knew came from overhearing the vampires speaking about the war. And for that, Michan has a bitter hatred for the other paranormals, believing the vampires to be the victims of their empress's assassination.
Eventually, Heliusa got permission to take Michan (now age 5) out of the palace to begin studying the wildlife needed for alchemy. As soon as Michan learned the basics of nature, he started showing signs of a photographic memory. As the years flew by, Michan became fluent in alchemy and engineering, both traits very important to the Itude Empire.
By the time Michan turned 13 years of age, Heliusa passed away from a terrible blight infecting the lands. The death of the Royal Alchemist and Engineer weighed heavily upon the royal family. Around this time, Michan dove into his grandfather's studies to learn that the blight was created by the shapeshifters. Refusing to sleep, Michan studied the notes, testing new alchemic equations until he found the right one to cure the blight. After that, Michan was rewarded for saving the living beings of the Itude Empire.
It wasn't until Michan turned 14 that his father told him he was to be married to a young human girl on his sixteenth birthday to keep the Klóstis family line alive. Michan was highly uncomfortable with being forced to marry someone, but he surrendered into it due to the Itude Empire's view on homosexuality. All his life, Michan had to hide how he felt toward liking both men and women. In this retrospect, Michan would struggle through the next year until his fate changed.
At one point, Michan was taken out of the Vol'nische Palace to go shopping down in Vol'nische. To do this, he was blindfolded and his hearing was blocked. Then, he was taken via horse to the capital, which took over three hours due to keeping him confused. In the capital, Michan was unblindfolded and allowed to shop for whatever supplies he needed for his next invention or experiment. At this point, Michan had a pet gryphowl. This gryphowl was known as Morphius and Michan had grown so attached to the little guy that it went everywhere with him.
During his rounds in the capital, Michan was attacked and knocked unconscious. Upon waking up in a dimly lit area without Morphius around, he learned that he was captured by a deranged group of psychopathic humans who wanted to screw the Itude Empire over. Near him, he found his gryphowl dead. This ended up with Michan being injected with some kind of serum that instantly made him sick. Michan was able to eventually escape, getting back to the guards that were able to escort him back to the palace. Ever since then, Michan has been nervous about people, only trusting the royal family with his safety.
Upon his fifteenth birthday, Michan was forced to undertake the guild initiation for the Faillen League, to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather. Quickly, he rose through the ranks, becoming a Knight and also being announced as the Royal Alchemist and Engineer of the Itude Empire, working jointly with the Emperor, the Crown Prince, and Wolf Slayer. Normally, a human who worked with them tended to be frightened out of their minds, but Michan was unlike anyone else in the empire. He enjoyed working for them as he could go as far as he wanted with his experiments.
Just before the series begins, Michan was tasked with creating a new weapon (similar to the nuclear bombs on Earth) that could destroy each of the regions in the Moonlight Expanse. Ever since being tasked with this, Michan has been working day and night, risking his health to bring this new and deadly invention to life!
He gets really excited about his ideas and he can't wait to talk about them and start putting them into practice and tinkering with them. He wants to tell everyone about how exciting it is, sometimes going overboard and scaring people with his excitement. At times, he'll start giggling, which sounds like maniacal laughter. This is when you know to slowly back away from him as he's getting TOO excited about this work.
When his experiments explode, Michan becomes disheartened and feels like a failure for a short period of time. After that period, he is back at it again. A fun trivia fact stems from the teal streak on his left cheek that was caused by one of his inventions backfiring and searing the mark onto his face. Now, he thinks the mark makes him look cool.
