Purpose / Function
Great Deals at a Great Price:
Galliard's begun as a small business in the center of the middle class area of Rue in 663 ME. Started by Galliard Greatbeard, a then young dwarven immigrant from Kojark, the purpose of the shop was to sell quality goods at a reasonable price, so one day Galliard could transfer to the upper class and live comfortably and happily.
Alterations
Original Location:
The original location of Galliard's was nestled deep in the middle of the middle class region of Rue. This quaint shop was large enough to only house a small selection of items, which Galliard carefully chose based on quality, cost of import, and how much the people of Rue needed the items. This lead to a steady increase in profits until a sudden influx in 670 ME, when an increase in tourism occurred. This allowed Galliard to move location to its current home.
Current Location: Galliard's is currently located on the edge of the upper class region of Rue, which opened in 673 ME. This building was an instant hit, with a large selection of goods attracting merchants from far and wide to sell and buy. As business increased, so did the government's interest in the shop, and in 682 ME the Royal Governor permitted Galliard to use magic to increase his shop's internal size, the first time this magic was allowed in Rue. Additionally, the shop was remodeled to fit Galliard's wants, increasing profit even further.

Architecture
Marble and Stone:
Galliard's Glorious Goods is a large marble building with sharp edges and large windows, built on a foundation of solid bedrock. The outside is covered in signs and flags showing some of the goods offered, and a large window reveals some of the most inviting goods such as armor, magical items, and elegant furniture
Magical Interior: While the external shop is moderately large, the inside is nearly quadruple the size with the help of magical runes. The interior is much warmer than the exterior: an elegant wood floor ties well with the sturdy shelves that hold up magical goods, and magical lamps set on the walls and ceiling keep the building warm and bright. Near the back of the shop is the most impressive: a chiseled stone counter houses diamonds, rings, and bracelets behind sturdy glass, and a gem decorated tapestry covers the door of the Vault, the door to the pocket dimension where Galliard keeps his most valuable and dangerous goods.

Defenses
The Guard:
Galliard's Glorious Goods has been protected by a group of 7 Guardsmen since an MMI riot occurred near the shop in 685 ME. These guards are divided among the shop according to how valuable the goods protected are: 1 Guard keeps an eye on the food and drink section, 2 guards patrol the equipment and weapons, while 3 guards are constantly stationed at the Vault, authorized to use deadly force on any who attempt to enter besides Galliard himself. An additional guard is stationed at the front door of the building, however it is not uncommon for Galliard to dismiss them early with pay.
Magical Protection: The exterior of Galliard's is protected by three powerful magical runes, which protect the building from nearly all exterior damage. These runes are able to withstand force equal to a cannon without cracking the marble underneath, and are resistant to dispelling and other magical effects

History
663 ME- Galliard's Glorious Goods Opens:
Galliard's opens at its first location deep in the middle class section of Rue. The shop shows steady increase in profit, thanks to Galliard's masterful sense of business, and becomes a common name among the civilians of middle class Rue
670 ME- Tourism Increase: Tourism of Rue increases in 670 ME, and Galliard's experience a boom in business. This sudden increase to profit allows Galliard to move locations, closing his store in 671 ME and reopening 2 years later in 673 ME.
673 ME- New Location, Same Store: Galliard's Glorious Goods reopens and profit nearly triples. Galliard's becomes a household name across the city, and is regularly recommended to tourists and visitors by locals.
682 ME- First Magical Building: The Royal Governor allows Galliard to magically enhance his shop, quadrupling the interior design and also permits him to sell more dangerous magical items. This permission angers the middle class, who question why it is much easier for the nobility and rich to use magic while they must go through stacks of paperwork. This would eventually lead to the Movement for Magical Independence, and consequentially the Magical Riots of 685.
685 ME- Guards and Magical Protection: During a riot orchestrated by the Movement for Magical Independence, a stray magical effect broke a window of Galliard's, destroying a small shelf of non-magical armor. No one was injured, and the following month the Royal Governor authorized the Guard to protect the store and cast magical protection on it. This enraged some members of the MMI, who orchestrate a short and ineffective boycott. This boycott, despite having little effect on Galliard's business, resulted in a response from Galliard himself, who was quoted saying "Even if your cause is just, this does not justify your actions. My shop is now protected due to your actions, dividing the magical abilities of the classes even further." Galliard, an avid supporter of the movement, threatened to pull any aid if the riots continue.
690 ME to Present: Since 690 ME, Galliard's has continued to grow and prosper, becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. In 712 ME, a short altercation occurred outside Galliard's between a follower of the Church of the Gods and a follower of the Serpent of the Sundial. This lead to Galliard making a public statement, announcing that "Religious squabbles are unwelcomed at Galliard's. Respect even in disagreement."

Tourism
House of Variety:
Galliard's is the most popular tourist destination in Rue, if not the country as a whole. Merchants, nobility, and artisans are especially interested in the business. Due to the shop selling native as well as exotic foods, it attracts business from both external and internal tourists, as well as civilians of Rue itself.
