The Bone Sire

The Bone Sire originally began as a Drostenian myth. It was originally supposed to be some kind of creature that dwelled within the Timber Swamps, made from the bones of the denizens within. It was said to be a death curse to thoses who crossed its path, and you would only encounter it if your fate was already sealed. Ocassionally, followers of the Raven Queen would send warriors into the swamps to find the creature and discover if there was any truth to this myth, and barely a few, if any at all, would return from these expeditions. During the reign of Isaac Forthwind, recogniton of the myth died down as the changeover from the Order Of Lumen Velios to the Fist Of The King was in force, and eventually focus shifted to the Contagion War. It was at the end of that war that the myth of the Bone Sire turned into a more substantial reality.

Nico Destinn

After Shathen had defeated Drosten at the end of the Contagion War, and Forthwind had been killed by The Ragtags, Nico Destinn remained King Regent of Shathen for a number of years, until Katrina DeMarco came of age. He spent many of those formative years guiding her and teaching her to rule the country, and he stepped aside as she reached the age of 14. By the time she turned 19, her and Nico had become more and more distant and estranged, and eventually she exiled him after a disagreement. There were vague rumours of sightings and movements of Nico throughout the years following, but none were founded in absolute truth, and he was never heard from again.

The Fated Four

33 years after the fall of Forthwind, a new adventuring group arose; The Fated Four. Part of what bought them together was a mysterious note that magically appeared on their person, supposedly from someone calling themselves the Bone Sire. It appeared to predict an assassination attempt of the Lory Vesslin Dobrev, and pleaded the group to put a stop to this. After doing so, the group met with the creature deep within the Timber Swamps, after following some steps laid out in a different letter. Upon entering a domain that dwelled within a willow tree, the group found themselves face to face with a creature made of various different bones from all manor of creatures, the main part being a humanoid skull and ribcage. The skull had several scars and wounds across the top of it's head. After the party ingratiated themselves with the creature, and continued on their adventures, they eventually discovered the origin of the creature. It turned out to be none other than Nico Destinn, the former Bannerstrider commander and Regent of Shathen. He revealed a memory to Token, which showed an argument between himself and Sven, a Bannerstrider who fought in the Contagion War, where Sven prevented Nico from entering Northmoor after Katrina DeMarco had passed the order to exile him. Nico, or now the Bone Sire, then continued to reveal that he wandered from place to place after his banishment, and eventually found his way into the Timber Swamps, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. He was then raised by the Raven Queen and bound to this demiplane within the swamps, and apparently given powers to determine glimpses and premonitions of future possibilities. He vowed to use this power to ensure no evil like Isaac Forthwind would ever threaten the world again.
