Contract of Sanction

When a member of the Order becomes or believes will become troublesome and normal means of correction/discpline not considered an option, a document called a Contract of Sanction may be created. This document initially looks like a normal piece of parchment with standard lettering written upon it. While the parchment itself is normal, the ink used is special.   The body of the contract is written straight with this ink and has no real affect, but that is because it hasn't been signed yet. Blood from the individual the contract is meant for is taken and mixed with some of the ink, the resulting mix used to write the individual's name near the bottom of the parchment. As a final seal, the individual is forced to smear or drop more of their blood after their name. At this point, the contract is literary binding.   What exactly each individual feels upon the contract taking effect varies, but one constant is that they feel like their connection to the elements was stripped. From that point on, the affected individual must follow what the contract binds them to. Usually, it's to ensure compliance to any and all orders, especially if the one giving it is a Marked. However, especially creative (or cruel) contract writers can use these contracts to make the individual do (or not do) many things.   Due to the nature of the ink used, the completed/signed contract must be kept in a low light area. If the storage location is too dark, the ink will be absorbed by the darkness. Too bright and the light will outright destroy it. If either of these things happen, the contract is broken.
