The Dark Hand

The Dark Hand is an organization that specializes in the mining of 'burning stone' (aka : Coal), which is a much needed resource in certain regions of the continent due to the lack of reliable fuel sources.

Rank Structure

There are a few distinctive tiers in the Dark Hand in terms of seniority.

Overseer

Leader of an individual mining operation. Usually either a Gar or Tuk. Occasionally all Overseers convene together to discuss the status of current mines, potential new mining sites and trade relations.

Liaison

An individual assigned to manage trade relations with various Grands and other organizations.

Seekers

A group that specializes in finding new veins to tap into.

Head

A Gar or Tuk in charge of a group of miners.

Dredger

Miners. Usually Gar or Tuk.

Thrall

Lowest members of the organization, many having been convicted of crimes. It's not uncommon for them to be sent into the most dangerous parts of the mine, especially if their crime is reprehensible. Can be of any breed.

Trade Relations

The Sand Walkers: they are a major 'buyer' of their stock, for which they barter for with Shard Back glass, hides, and occasionally a new thrall to work in their mines.

The Order: a major source of new thralls for the Dark Hand, the Order also often utilalies their connections to ensure they remain supplied with mining tools and other supplies in exchange for their wares.
