Coralcrest

"Coralcrest is the greatest port in the world! As long as you don't live there." -old nautical saying

Demographics

45% Consortium citizens, 20% non-citizen residents, 35% trade visa-holders

Government

Elected mercantile council oversees daily functioning of the city. The laws in place are to protect the trade economy of the city. Disruption of this results in severe penalties for non-citizens. While Consortium citizens elect the council and have a great deal of sway in the city, it is those who have trade visas run the harbor.

Defences

The Freehold Militia has a smaller presence here compared to other cities in the Consortium. The Coralcrest's Navy and Marines patrol the waters and the dockyards and wharfs of the city. There is a small wall protecting the western edge of the city that is maintained by the Militia. Several lighthouses and sentry towers rise out of the harbor to guide and protect the city's shoreline.

Industry & Trade

Being near the center of the eastern edge of the continent has allowed the city to become a major stop for sailing merchants. Rice, tea, and unique spices grown in the wetlands surrounding the city are major exports. Imports from the other Consortium cities are traded to other nations and cities here making their taxing highly lucrative for the residents of Coralcrest. Fishing is an important export to the rest of the landlocked Consortium cities along with the exotic goods from other lands.

Infrastructure

All buildings and roads are built in service to the dockyards of Coralcrest.

Assets

Rice and tea fields surround the city, and the fishing are the major assets of Coralcrest.

Guilds and Factions

The Tea Guild, Coralcrest Navy, and the Trade Council are the major factions controlling the city. The Tea Guild controls the most lucrative export of Coralcrest, a decade ago the Spice Guild ruled. The Navy protects the harbor and controls who enters and leaves it. Trade Council makes many of the laws and issues trade visas to outside merchants. The Fallen Authority has a significant presence here, providing many of the vices (sex work, drugs, smuggling, etc.) to the merchants and sailors that pass through the harbor.
