Astrion

strion: The Shattered Jewel of Thiandalune Before the Black Fire War Before the cataclysmic events of the Black Fire War, Astrion was the celestial crown jewel of Thiandalune, the luminous sanctuary within the Aina Continuum. Orbiting Edrion, the Material Plane, this asteroid belt was unlike any other. It was a ring of resplendent beauty, a halo of interconnected celestial bodies that were more akin to floating islands than mere rocks.   Each asteroid in Astrion was a microcosm of life, teeming with unique ecosystems, mystical flora, and exotic fauna. The air was filled with the fragrance of otherworldly flowers, and the skies were painted with auroras of magical energies. Rivers of liquid light flowed through the landscapes, and the very ground seemed to hum with the pulse of the cosmos.   Astrion was the most populated region in Thiandalune, a bustling hub of commerce, culture, and arcane study. It was home to a diverse array of beings—elves, dwarves, gnomes, and even rarer species—all living in harmony under the watchful eyes of Grimston and the other gods. Temples dedicated to celestial worship were as common as marketplaces selling enchanted goods. Scholars and magicians from across the Continuum traveled to Astrion to study its mysteries and unlock its arcane secrets.   The Black Fire War and Its Aftermath The Black Fire War was a cataclysm that shook the very foundations of the Aina Continuum. Initiated by Aejeon's ill-fated creation of the "Malo Balar," or Black Fire, this event disrupted the cosmic harmony that Te Vevutur had so meticulously crafted. Astrion was not spared from this calamity.   The once-vibrant ring was shattered, its interconnected celestial bodies torn asunder. The rivers of liquid light dried up, the fragrant air turned acrid, and the once-bustling hubs of life were reduced to barren wastelands. The magical auroras that once painted the skies were replaced by swirling vortexes of dark energy. Many of the inhabitants perished, and those who survived were forced to flee, scattering across Thiandalune and the other realms of Edrion.   In the aftermath, Astrion became a haunting shadow of its former self. Yet, it was here that Grimston chose to establish a sanctuary for his most loyal servants, the Nine That Remained. The most famous of these sanctuaries is Planet Hoof, a once-vibrant asteroid now serving as a fortress and home base for these immortal champions.   The Legacy of Astrion Today, Astrion serves as a poignant reminder of both the fragility and resilience of cosmic Order. It is a battlefield, a place of questing, and a source of arcane artifacts. The Nine That Remained, led by Sergeant Thunderhoof, continue to patrol its shattered landscapes, fighting to keep malevolent forces from the Ord Maada at bay.   Though it may never return to its former glory, Astrion remains a crucial chapter in the ongoing saga of the Aina Continuum. Its story is a testament to the grandeur of divine creation, the folly of unrestrained power, and the indomitable will of its myriad inhabitants. It stands as a living monument to the complex tapestry of beliefs, powers, and destinies that make up this divine universe.
