The Golden Dragon
"They are reborn again and again. If they shouldn't re-emerge after a death, they either didn't die or the age of dragons is coming to an end."
General Info
In this world, there was always a golden dragon. It was said to watch over the world and help those in need.Other than other Dragons, the golden dragon doesn't reproduce. Once it dies, an egg containing a new golden dragon will appear in another dragon's nest.
Legend has it, that the golden dragon was one of seven dragons that were created in the wake of the death of the two titans and the founder of the "Council of the Seven".
It is generally perceived as a keeper of peace and especially by those, who worship the draconic gods, as a direct descendant of the great draconic titan Bonuras.
However in 200 II.Era the golden dragon was supposedly killed in a battle against the Attomorian Empire and was never seen again since.
Historical Basis
There is a turret in the city of Attomor nicknamed the "Dragon Slayer" that supposedly fired the bolt that killed the dragon.
Shortly before The Independence War a group of archeologists from Libertia discovered ancient ruins in the mountaintops of the Titan's Spine. Reports from this mission describe depictions of four winged dragons and architecture too big to be used by any humanoid species. This led some scholars to link the ruins to the mythical "Council of the Seven", which is said to be led by the golden dragon.
Old texts seem to confirm the existence of a golden variation of Dragons, makinng it more likely that this myth is true.

In Literature
In "Dragons: Beasts or Misunderstood?" by Driffin Warder golden dragons are mentioned as one of the oldest kinds of dragons. Related to the last golden dragon they wrote: "Of course every child of the empire knows, that the golden beast was slain after its vicious attack on the capitol. But among the ancient folk of the dwarfs it is said, that the dragon lives in disguise among us humans, protecting us from wild dragons. Actually the number of wild dragon attacks has decreased since the disappearance of the golden dragon."
In the "Book of the eternal battle" from the draconic scriptures this dragon is described as: "(...) the biggest member of the council. Her scales shine in brilliant gold and white and are as hard as the deepest stones. Her fangs are sharper than any mortal blade. Her four wings are covered in white feathers as soft as they are strong. She is both beauty and danger incarnate. (...)"
