Basic Information

Growth Rate & Stages

After hatching, dragon-hatchlings are almost immediately able to fly. They then grow up to 1 meter length when they enter the second stage.
As a youngling, dragons gain the ability to speak and use minor magic. They enter this stage at an age of about six years.
When they are 16 years old, dragons commonly reach a length of up to 5 meters and enter their juvenile state. A dragon normally leaves it's parents at this stage and builds it's own nest.
When a dragon reaches the age of 25 years, it's considered adult. At this age most dragons reach 10 meters in length and are able to find a mate.
Dragons never stop growing and only grow slower with higher age. There are reports of dragons that reached lengths of more than 30 meters.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Different sub-species live in different environments. For example white dragons are found in very cold regions while blue dragons often live near big bodies of water.
The only kind of dragon, that is found in nearly every environment is the red dragon. These dragons can live anywhere they can build a nest.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Most adult dragons can use magic with older individuals being at least as powerful as the most skilled human mages.
They also can smell, see and hear better than any other known species. Different species of dragons show different prominent senses.

Civilization and Culture

Relationship Ideals

When two dragons bond with each other, they stay together forever. When one partner dies, the other will not bond with a different dragon.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Dragons have their own language only the and a few other draconic species can understand.
Dragons that studied human civilisation are also able to communicate in the common tongue.

Common Myths and Legends

Myths talk about extremely rare kinds of dragons. The most famous ones are myths about golden dragons and shadowy dragons.
There is little to no actual evidence that these dragons still exist or ever existed. They are mostly mentioned in old stories, songs and rhymes.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Most dragons see themselves and other dragons above all other species and as the true reign over this world. Only a few dragons ever only see themselves as part of a bigger world.
Due to them being very territorial, most dragons attack any possible threat on sight and only a few seem to be more pacifistic.
