The seal of hands

Purpose / Function

After the longest fight against the Lightblight to date, The Elven Society lost around 2000 of their people. In honor of the fallen, this building was erected.
At the same time the anchor that seals the hands of the Lightblight was moved into the building, so it could be even better guarded and serve as a reminder of the havoc that this blight caused.

Architecture

This building used to show the typical elven architecture with big carved bows and big windows.
The most unique feature was the 4m tall and 1m wide, pitch black obelisk, that was surrounded by an enormous hand made of sandstone. This structure was the anchor that sealed the hands of the Lightblight.
In the center of the temple the spring of hope is located. On its base the names of the greatmages that fell in the battle are engraved. It was once said that when the spring runs dry, the lightblight will rise again and all hope will be lost.

History

This memorial was once a sacred place for elves around the world. But when they left this part of the forest, they abandoned it and left it unguarded. Some adventurers, that went into the ancient ruins say that nature reclaimed most of it. The well has run dry, the ceiling is partly collabsed and the elven artworks are faded. Yet the black obelisk and giant hand, that form the anchor still stand and part of the lightblight is still sealed in it.
Recent reports tell of a green dragon called Kihidir, that supposedly watches over the anchor.
