Shapeshifting

Shapeshifters

Shapeshifting is the second Subclass in the Corporeal Class of powers. It refers to an Empowered whose powers manifest in being able to change the appearance of their body in some way, shape or form. Back in the 1400s, Robert Stanton, an Empowered researcher created the Dual-Class system to categorise powers. Along with Enhanced Ability (known originally as just Enhancements), the Shapeshifting Subclass (known originally as Weremen) were the original two Subclasses under the Corporeal class.
Shapeshifters make up a small portion of Empowered with Corporeal manifestations. Many of them are Weremen- a colloquial name for Werewolves, Weretigers, Wererats, etc- who live in secluded tribes or family groups, for the most part. The Major and Minor manifestations of this Subclass are listed below:

Controversy

This class has had its fair share of controversy, namely regarding the Flight Manifestation. Many debate about whether Flight truly counts as an Enhanced Ability, or whether it counts as Limited Shapeshifting under the Shapeshifting tree. Despite disagreements, it was officially removed from the Shapeshifting Subclass in 1980 and added as the 5th Major Manifestation of Enhanced Ability.
