The Champions

During the Formation of the The Grand Library, a new hierarchy was formed within the continent of Ankroth. The eight founders of the Library went on to form The Masters and act as its first members. Their acumen and experience working within the magical sciences made them some of the most powerful magic users in the world. However, they did not complete their journey to the highest level alone.   Unlike her fellow adventurers, Shari Ulken was never one for academics. When it came time to shoulder the mantle of responsbility, the other Masters looked to add Shari as a 9th member. She denied them, noting her lack of interest in political leadership, instead opting to continuing her travels of the land or if they'd have her, as their personal guard. In honor of her support in their adventures, the Champions were formed, and Shari became its first member.

With any new body of leaders comes the need for protections from those that may want to supplant or wrest control from these budding positions of power. The Champions are a collective established by the original Masters of Ankroth to protect their newly constructed library and help maintain unity within the realm. For the original Masters, they established themselves with the intention to help bring Ankroth to a new standard of togetherness. Recognizing the need for safeguards against power-hungry individuals, the Masters relied on the Champions to serve as their defenders.   Though initially built to offer their good friend a "seat at the table" for all of her incredible support, the eight original Masters saw value in the "Champion" title as a means to recognize individuals who, while not assuming the role of a Master, still played a significant role in nurturing and guiding potential future Masters. This decision was driven by the understanding that personal growth and achievement are seldom accomplished in isolation, and those who contribute to this journey should be duly acknowledged.   When a new Master is appointed, they are given the opportunity to invite members of their party to join the Champions. Inclusion in this organization is not guaranteed, however, it is the sole pathway to potentially securing a position within the Champions.
