Avisawis

Avisawis has long been known as a solitary, almost unreachable land, far north and beyond frozen forests and churning waters. Their people have long been thought to be the most reclusive of the 10 Nations, barring only Ominkana. Home to only the Aarakocra and Dragonborn, Avisawis is one of the least populated and least economical Nations. That's not to say they're pushovers, though. The people of Avisawis are some of the fiercest known to Deoryüm, and would be the first to defend their homelands.   Avisawis is only truly accessible from sea, as harsh taigas and extreme polar mountain ranges form a natural land barrier around the area of the Nation, protecting it from The Wilderlands. Few trade routes exist, but those that do run rarely, as Avisawis is mostly self-sufficient, existing on its own farming and mining operations, meaning new technology and silk clothing are the only profitable imports in Avisawis. On the world stage, they have very little diplomatic power over other Nations, but the other Nations are more than happy to leave them be, as the Aarakocra and Dragonborn united would certainly be a force to be reckoned with.   The Avisawis culture is largely tribal and extremely rooted in tradition. Avisawis lies on one of the largest outcrops of Elemental Air deposits, and for that fact alone the Aarakocra feel a deep respect and admiration for the lands they inhabit. And though the Dragonborn may not be born from the Elemental Plane of Air, they do feel the tug of their origins, as the Dragons used to make their lairs in the mountain peaks surrounding Avisawis. The yearly Aer Festival is held upon the third day of winter, rooted in respect for both species' origins and futures among the clouds.   The capital of Avisawis is Vluht, a bustling and surprisingly modern city lying almost dead-center in Avisawis. Somewhat far from the tallest mountain peaks, Vluht is an outcrop city nestled between the small area of snowy rainforest that springs up from the southern coast to the center of Avisawis. Vluht is often described as the "Silent City," as is falls almost completely silent as soon as the suns set, a hush falling upon the world above the clouds.
