Kitsune

Kitsune

Kitsune are a type of Planetouched that have an innate connection to the Feywilds. In their most common form, they are anthropomorphic foxes. Despite their good intentions, Kitsune are largely viewed negativity due to their trickster nature. Their tricks were never malicious and are always petty or just outright silly. Those Kitsune who use malicious tricks that causes severe bodily harm and possible death are few and far between, but have far-reaching influence in the minds of other races. For largely this reason, the average Kitsune is quick to trust and show loyalty to any who accepts them the way they are.

  • Trickster: You learn the cantrips; Dancing Lights, Minor Illusion, and Vicious Mockery. Charisma is the spellcasting ability for these spells. Kitsune can cast illusion spells at +1 caster level.
  • Kamen: Each Kitsune is born with a mask, which grows with them as they age. The mask itself is a physical manifestation of the Kitsune's soul, similar to a familiar. They need not wear the mask, but if it is ever destroyed or worn by another creature the link is severed and the Kitsune gains a negative level. When worn, the mask provides the Kitsune with a +2 bonus to all saves and a +3 bonus to hit. The mask's power can only be utilized once per long rest.

With each new tail, you gain one new spell of the Illusion, Enchantment, or Transmutation schools that can be cast once, a long rest being required to cast again. These spells use Charisma as your spellcasting ability and a spell save DC of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier.

Kitsune Shapeshift

A Kitsune’s true form is that of a small fox, but it is most often encountered by mortals in its humanoid form. The Kitsune's HP remains the same throughout its different forms. A Kitsune remains in one form until it chooses to assume a new one by using an action. A change in form cannot be dispelled, nor does a Kitsune revert to its natural form when killed. A true seeing spell, however, reveals its natural form if it is in humanoid or hybrid form.
  • Fox Form: In fox form the Kitsune is Tiny size. It takes a -4 size penalty to its Strength score, but gains a +4 size bonus to their Dexterity score and has a bite attack appropriate for its size.
  • Humanoid Form: The humanoid form is unique to every Kitsune; a Kitsune in this form always assumes the same appearance and traits, much as a lycanthrope would.
  • Hybrid Form: In hybrid form a Kitsune appears as a Medium humanoid with anthropomorphic fox features. The Kitsune has a bite attack in this form, and can also wield weapons or wear armor.
Kitsune have a size that's near to that of an elf and are noticeably lithe. In their natural form they are much like anthropomorphic foxes with what is usually light fur colored orange, reddish brown, or golden brown, though it isn't completely unheard of for them to posses black, white, silver, or golden fur covering their entire body. Some may have multiple colors in their fur such as a mostly reddish brown coat with white gloves and socks. Their eyes range in color as well, though most have blue, green, or brown eyes. Albeit uncommon, they may also have orange, purple, yellow, or even red eyes. They have mostly human-like hands though they do possess dark black claws at the ends of their fingers. A Kitsune is born with a single tail, but gain more tails as they grow wiser. A Kitsune's age is very difficult to tell since they appear to stop aging in their early twenties and commonly live to be a few years past nine-hundred, some for a full millenium.   Kitsune have always been exploratory and perpetually traveling Deoryüm, the one exception being those who have found a true love and formed a stationary family. However, during and after Kadamitas, many Kitsune found their way to Nobleon for its strong magical connection to the feywilds. Most of them stay out of the neverending war against Orchus, though.
