Asëamacil

Asëamacil, "Beneficent," is the sword of the Heru Númenost of Ostnúmenoron, Halueth Benialir Shuruziat'Athem. Asëamacil is not just a sword, it is also the Heru Númenost's Bharana and an Omphalos, infused with powerful magic over thousands of years.
In form, Asëamacil is a "hand-and-a-half" sword, but unlike typical swords of that type, the blade is slightly asymmetical and slightly wider than most. It is highly decorated with wire inlays of gold and "heavy silver," engraving, and inlaid gemstones. The crossguard is relatively small, and the hilt is wrapped in dark red dragonhide leather. The pommel is engraved and triangular in shape. The edge is razor-sharp, unnicked, and apparently never needs sharpening.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

As a powerful Omphalos, Asëamacil is invaluable in aiding Halueth Benialir Shuruziat'Athem in both spellcasting and in combat. It enables Halueth to invoke many spells without needing to perform complex focusing rituals. It can sense and warn Halueth of danger nearby, especially Orkrim, and as a sword, it is magically light and quick when wielded, significantly enhancing Halueth's striking and defensive prowess (which are already considerable). Each of the many gems inlaid into the hilt and blade of Asëamacil is also an Omphalos with the ability to invoke a spell when directed by Halueth, making Asëamacil one of the most powerful artifacts ever created on Derkomai.

History

When and where Asëamacil was originally forged and shaped is lost to time. It shows unmistakable signs of Dwarvirim forging, along with Elvirim engraving and inlay work. It was given to Halueth Benialir Shuruziat'Athem by the previous Heru Númenost of Ostnúmenoron at his Ceremony of Ascension. The previous Heru Númenost received it from the Heru Númenost before him, and it has been so for thousands of years.

Asëamacil was forged from the finest Dwarvirim steel, then engraved and inlaid with gold, "heavy silver," and precious diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and amethysts by Elvirim artisans and infused with magic over centuries by Elvirim Magi. Legends say that it was blessed by Shibaorim after it was first forged, and that the wielder of Asëamacil will never fall in combat. Each of the gemstones inlaid into Asëamacil is itself an Omphalos.
