The Cloak of the Southern Star

The Cloak of the Southern Star is a floor-length fur cloak owned by Queen Tatsu Tachibana Larssen. It is made from very fine, nearly pure white pelts of the Southern Mountain Cat, acquired from fur traders from Rigosland. The winter-phase white pelts came from Southern Mountain Cats living high in the Rigos Mountains and the Ankle. The hunters and trappers that obtained them endured extremely harsh conditions to find and hunt the Mountain Cats. The cloak is lined with the highest-quality black silk imported from Senyon.
Considered by many to be the most exquisite cloak known in the world, it is a priceless artifact, the envy of the noble women of Sudland and beyond. With her long, dark hair and tall, elegant figure, Queen Tatsu is strikingly beautiful and regal when she wears the cloak; however, being sensitive to causing too much jealousy (and of its value), she only wears it for the most formal occasions. The cloak was gifted to her from her mother-in-law, Queen Tamiko Tachibana Larssen, as a wedding gift when Queen Tatsu married King Einar Tachibana Larssen.
Few people know that the Cloak of the Southern Star is also an Aegis Omphalos, infused with protective magic bound to nearly invisible gold thread sewn into the collar of the cloak. Not long after they were married, King Einar commissioned a Magus, Inasior the Bent, to infuse the cloak with magic to protect the queen from physical harm. When she is wearing the cloak, she is nearly immune to harm from swords, arrows, spears, or other weapons. Though she is reluctant, the king encourages her to wear it whenever she is in a public place.
