Praulta
The modern military ideal originated in Praulta, and in the years it took for the rest of the world to catch up, it made great strides in growing its borders, economy, and industrial capacity. When the rest of the world had caught up, it stood as a monolith of the modern world, with a reputation as well trained and efficiently managed in all things. A reputation that is hard to argue.
Once a small nation in the middle of many other small nations, Praulta should have been, for all intents and purposes, a geopolitical footnote. Instead, it started to chew up it's neighbors and pull them into the fold, kicking and screaming if they had to. Politically or militarily. But mostly militarily. It helps that the countries around Praulta, as well as Praulta itself, were the remnants of an old kingdom that shattered centuries before. While they had been separate for so long that they had diverged culturally in many aspects, their shared origin also gave them a fantastic base to find common ground with their prospective conquerors. As the ball got rolling for Praulta, it became more and more common for the next small nation in its sights to put up token resistance before surrendering and joining in with Praulta. That being said, one should not ignore the number of armies the Praulta crushed to reach it's goals, and a military solution leaves behind casualties. Casualties that are bitter, angry, and now forever opposed to Praulta and everything it stands for, as well as their friends and families.
There has not been a Praultan war of conquest for some time now, and the nation largely rests on its hard-won laurels. Other than the odd snatching of a piece of land here and there, they are by and large more focused on keeping their gains than grasping new ones. From threats within and without.
Rebel groups and extremists continually pop up, more commonly in places that are farther from Praulta's original borders, attempting to stir up dissent anywhere they are. In the last year alone, several bombings have taken place in major cities, taking both military and civilian lives. The country is horrified, but not more so than Praulta's neighbors, such as Laidros and Svogan, who are worried that such violent extremism will spread across borders and into their cities. Perhaps a baseless worry, but they'd rather not take any chances.
As you might expect, Praulta's pantheon leans towards military and destructive Domains. Fire is a common one, paired with the Domains of soldiers or war. They do have a large sect of 'support' gods. Gods of agriculture and farming, and a few that aid industry, all the things needed to keep an army on the move.
