Shao Kang

Currently totally sublimated by Gotou, Shao Kang was a nation of cerebral gods. 
While there are many things that made Shao Kang famous, it was most famous for it's cadre of 'philosophers'. A grouping of gods who taught, not practical skills, but schools of thought. While they were never unified, their musings and teachings have continued to shape the world long since their schools were dismantled by the new emperor.  Workers movements and monarchists alike citing the works of their different alumni. 
Their vast tracts of arable land, managed through the practice of 'terracing', once fed their country as well as nations around the world. There is little to be found now bar the scraps. Cash crops grow in place of edible food, and those that refuse to grow what is demanded of them quickly find themselves stripped of their possessions. 
The boot of Gotou, or at least it's emperor, continues to grind down. While dissidents are quickly 'managed', the rumble of discontent has been growing into a steady roar.
