Garthrund’s Smithy

Nestled in the bustling market district of Hyste Talma, Garthrund's smithy stands as a beacon of craftsmanship and resilience. Its walls, built from the local graystone, are covered with the soot and marks of a forge that rarely cools. The sound of hammer striking anvil resonates throughout the day, mixing with the market's cacophony.
Garthrund's smithy in Hyste Talma is a robust structure of dark, weathered stone that stands stout against the bustling market district's vibrant chaos. The smithy's exterior is adorned with a swinging wooden sign featuring a hammer and anvil, the universal symbols of the blacksmith trade. As one approaches, the clang of metal striking metal grows louder, a testament to the forge's constant activity.   Inside, the smithy is a cavernous space with soot-blackened walls and a high, arched ceiling designed to funnel smoke upward through a series of cleverly designed chimneys. The main forge area is dominated by a massive, coal-fed furnace that radiates intense heat, illuminating the interior with a warm, orange glow. Nearby, a large anvil sits on a sturdy base, surrounded by various blacksmith tools meticulously arranged for easy access.   Workbenches line the walls, cluttered with projects at various stages of completion—from sword blades and armor plates to more delicate custom metalworks. Materials such as iron ingots, steel bars, and rare ores are stored securely in heavy wooden crates, each labeled with its contents.   The air inside is thick with the smell of burning coal and hot metal, a scent that blends with the earthy aroma of leather aprons and gloves. Garthrund, a towering figure with broad shoulders, works at the center of this controlled chaos. His face, framed by a light beard, is often streaked with sweat and grime, but his eyes sparkle with the passion and focus of a master craftsman at his anvil.   A smaller, quieter room at the back serves as both a showroom for completed works and a consultation area for clients seeking custom orders. This room is cleaner and well-organized, showcasing Garthrund’s finest pieces on wooden pedestals or hanging from the walls on ornate hooks. The contrast between the gritty workshop and this polished display space highlights the transformation raw materials undergo under Garthrund's skilled hands.
