Elves

Elves are humanoids standing between 5 ft and 7 ft tall with naturally lithe forms and skin colours ranging from almost white to rich chocolate browns. The majority of elves have hair ranging from dark browns and blacks to white blondes. The Elves of Devorn suffered great losses due to the Great Unshackling and the Darkened Time that followed. First the new chaotic magic of Devorn reacted especially violently when channelled by the Elvish Wizards and Sorcerers of the time causing great devastation. Following the magical calamities came 'The Loss' as the Elves called it, their once intrinsic immortality was no more and their elders faded to dust within 50 years of the Great Unshackling leaving great voids of wisdom and knowledge within their communities, though rumours exist of Elves who have maintained their immortality through other means. These losses from magic and natural deaths greatly shrunk the population of the Elves of Devorn and left the race devastated. Elves now reach maturity around 30 years and though most are no longer immortal still live between 500 and 600 years naturally.     Racial Traits (Pick 3):
  • Marksman: +2 Archery and they may draw and string a bow without taking an action. Elven reflexes coupled with a propensity to avoid hand to hand combat with the other stronger races have lead to many Elves developing a knack for shooting from range.
  • Light-footed: +1 Reflexes and +2 to Performance when dancing. Being light on your feet has to have some advantages other than making you look a little floaty right?
  • Proper: +2 Social Etiquette and +1 Fine Arts. There are always correct ways to act and proper topics to speak on.
  • Woodland Ancestry: Do not disturb most animals, many beasts encountered are considered friendly at first meeting and will not attack unless provoked. May also automatically find any plant substance rated as commonly available (or lower), as long as the substance would occur naturally in the surrounding terrain. Those Wood Elves of old had a lot of familiarity with forests and their denizens.
  • Violent Channelers: +3 Spellcasting, -1 Resist Magic, and all stamina costs for Magic are increased by 1. Many elves still struggle to contain the raw power of the new magic of Devorn.
According to The Order of the Broken Tome Elves make up around 5% of all known sentient humanoids on Devorn.
