Witcher Race

Witchers are physically similar to their original races counterparts, though they are generally both faster and stronger than their unchanged counterparts. Through the Trial of Grasses which an individual may undertake at any point before reaching full maturity they mutate from their original race to become a Witcher. Witcher's have extended lifespans, in fact no known Witcher has up to this point died from old age and the eldest are a little over 600 years with no signs of slowing down.   Racial Traits (All Traits are Mandatory):
  • Mandatory - Enhanced Senses: +1 Awareness, no penalties from areas of dim light, and the ability to track by scent alone. The senses are amongst the most affected things from the Trial, it's not uncommon for a new Witcher to become ill the second they realise how much they smell.
  • Mandatory - Dulled Emotions: -4 Empathy which cannot bring Empathy below 1 and Witchers do not have to make Courage checks against Intimidation. Fear and kindness take on different meanings to one that has been trained to fight and kill monsters from a young age.
  • Mandatory - Resilient Mutation: Immunity to Disease and the ability to use Mutagens. Witchers are built different to average folk and don't seem to come down with a common cold very often.
  • Mandatory - Lightning Reflexes: +1 Dexterity and +1 Reflexes. These bonuses may exceed the 10 point cap. Physically quicker than any other race of beings on Devorn, you never want to try and duel a Witcher.
  • Mandatory - Birth Race Traits: You must take all mandatory traits from your original birth race and one additional non-mandatory trait. Becoming a Witcher changes an individual but it doesn't take away everything.
According to The Order of the Broken Tome Witchers make up less than 1% of all known sentient humanoids on Devorn.
