The Unnamed Ruler

While many rulers have dropped off the face of history few of them went to lengths to ensure that their names are forgotten by time. This myth is about that ruler who consequently ruled over the The Palace of Ra back in ancient times.
"You don't even know the true power the Pharaoh's Puzzle your just a boy. A long time ago there was a pharaoh who sealed great magical forces within that puzzle and I intend to release them."

Summary

That a Pharaoh used the Pharaoh's Puzzle and the other Regalia items to seal an evil from the world. Since the evil was one of the primal magical forces this legend would explain why Earth is weak in magic bloodlines. The story goes on to say that the seal for this evil is dependant on the Regalia and the name of the Pharaoh that sealed it away. This is why the story has stayed while the name of the ruler is forgotten the people removed all traces of his name in order to keep the evil sealed.

Historical Basis

Although far fetched to the scholars of the world the discovery of the The Palace of Ra has lead some people to believe that there might be some truth to the story since there are monuments to a prominent ruler with no name on them. Of course, the idea of magic and primal magic still seems to be far fetched and some scholars believe it to be unrelated. The argument points to the fact that the people who lived in the ancient city clearly believed in magic and utilized it though moth of the uses seems to be more scientific than magical.

Spread

This is mostly an old African tale though the discovery of the Palace of Ra had made the myth more widespread when Lindsey Booker published her book The Buried City which contained the myth.

Variations & Mutation

The main changes are what exactly the evil the ruler sealed was. Some stories say that it was dark magic incarnate others say that it was an evil god, still, others say that it was a demon. The other variant was whether or not the evil was sealed with just the puzzle or the other items. Some versions say that the ruler died shortly after the sealing and others say that he lived a long time after. Since the original document has not been found there is no telling who is right.

Cultural Reception

Since the Palace of Ra is a lost culture and city the story doesn't have too big of an impact in the rest of the world.
