Half-Dragon

“Torn between two worlds, the call of the dragonsong and the kingdoms of men.”

At a distance, half-dragons are often confused with a human or elf, but as the viewer draws closer the difference becomes wildly apparent. Scales run along their cheeks, neck, up and down their arms and legs, and back. Some may have small horns on their heads, while others may possess a tail that reaches down towards their ankles; few may have both. Slitted eyes and pointy ears complete their draconic appearance.

Draconic Heritage

In some cultures, half-dragons have been regarded as creatures blessed by the gods, while in others they’re treated as abominations of natural law. Because of this, they may be surprised by the positive or negative attitude towards them when entering a new town. Half-dragons behold the ancient power of their draconic parent with powerful force, but are incapable of passing down this gift to their children, who will be born without any draconic looks or abilities.   Throughout history, half-dragons become trusted sages sought far and wide for their extensive knowledge, while others may become vicious mercenaries feared throughout the countryside. Though many become wanderers searching for many different things, most often their draconic parent, an adventuring life comes as the next logical step to find what they’re looking for.

Legacy of Dragons

While the nature of their draconic parent has little bearing on who a Half-Dragon is as a person, they'd be fools to completely ignore the draconic blood in their veins. Half-Dragons born to Chromatic Dragons can feel the slight pull of their greed and predator instincts, those with Metallic patronage can be altruistic and compassionate, and the Gem born are often aloof and self-centered. A Half-Dragon can accept these common trends of their parents, or go through great lengths to deny these tendencies within themselves.

Age

Half-Dragons reach maturity after approximately 20 years. After reaching adulthood, their aging slows dramatically and lifespans range from hundreds to thousands of years.

Alignment

Half-dragons often vary wildly in alignment, but many retain the chaotic nature that rests in their blood. Very few half-dragons are known to follow laws of any creature, instead opting to craft a personal code over a period of many decades. Such code is rarely ever broken.

Size

Half-dragons range from 5 to 7 feet tall, often rivaling Dragonborn. Your size is Medium.

Half-Dragon Names

Half-dragons usually adopt the naming scheme of their parent’s society. On rare occasions, they may also have a draconic name either as their only name or nickname.   Male: Uthyr, Eolzyrd, Zerdeog Female: Shyvana, Irvyt, Fuvnir
