Conspiracy of House Sanguis

House Sanguis is the most reserved of the noble houses of Fade, reclusive and rarely interacted with.  Their house is ran by servants that are all closed mouthed about the royal family.  Though they have been the interest of court gossip for centuries, they never make public address, or take direct part in courtly functions.  The extreme level of loyalty among their servants and family lends itself to all kinds of tales being created around the family.

Summary

Dark Haven is the least understood cities of Fade, the lands surrounding the main city of House Sanguis change little from year to year, and most citizens that move to the area move away shortly after, even if it causes their family incredible hardships.  Most people can't really explain why they moved, they just don't feel comfortable their.  Sometimes citing nightmares, and general feelings of fear and being unwelcome.  All this combined has generated theories of mystical powers among the noble family and their servants.  Methods of food production and wealth generation for the area are a closely guarded secret.  One man who fled to Salem, described the noble family as monsters of incredible power.     Conspiracy believers say that House Sanguis is actually a family of demi-gods, gifted immortality from their god in an effort to win their feud with House Mutatio.  If the feud ever ends, then whichever house wins will take control of Fade and transform the entire continent.

Historical Basis

House Sanguis does not follow a typical ancestral passing of power, instead appointing their successors.  Also, the family does not hold typical funerals.  Instead the new successor takes over command of the house, and the previous leader is never heard from again.  This one time passing of power is usually the only time the leader of the house is seen in public.  Promising prosperity in the years to come, then returning to their reclusive ways.

Spread

Though little information reaches the rest of the continent from Dark Haven, this only helps the spread of these rumors and conspiracies.

Variations & Mutation

Some variations are more sinister, claiming that House Sanguis is actually the greatest fear of the people of Fade, the undead raised back to life by powerful necromancers, so strong that the other houses fear confronting them and sparking another necromantic war that would destroy the continent.

Cultural Reception

Most people discount this conspiracy out of hand, magic is rare in Fade and if they had that kind of power, most people believe they would have used it to secure the crown.
