Hokken Empire
The Hokken Empire is an island nation located on the continent of Sekajota.
The Hokken were originally exiles from Amvaer'ónya, one of many hobgoblin clans to flee to the island continent of Sekajota following the War of Endless Midnight. The hobgoblins had once been united through their shared worship of the exarch Nomog-Geaya, but their god's defeat at the hands of Mekhane formed a schism among the surviving clans. Several clans continued to worship Nomog-Geaya, believing they would return to restore the hobgoblins' former glory. Those that settled in the north around the world tree Seikaiju began to worship the tree as their new god, while the Hokken clan uncovered the ruins of Istishia'jilad and began to worship the Primordial Titan Istishia as their new god.
Without a singular religion to unify the hobgoblins, influential shogun seized power and divided the continent into five feudal kingdoms, which would go to war with one another over the next several centuries. It was during this time that the Hokken began to send missionaries to the other kingdoms to spread the word of istishia, under the direction of an influential shogun-priest who many believed to be the mouthpiece of Istishia himself. The other kingdoms faced internal religious conflict that severrely weakened their ability to fight against one another, while the unified Hokken clan proceeded to conquer their neighboring kingdoms one by one. Eventually, the rival shogun and their samurai pledged loyalty to the newly-crowned Emperor. These shogun were appointed provincial governors and their kingdoms were absorbed into the newly-formed Hokken Empire.
