Corrin High-Hill (a.k.a. The Wanderer)
"The name High-hill is a long standing bloodline in the Halfling populated towns Corrin comes from, specifically Kasner his hometown. The High-hill family name comes from the land the family lives on, though all of the family is quite short, even for Halflings.
The only area Corrin knows is the large grassland mass he lives on. You can find small towns and villages in every direction you can walk on. Most of them are about 2 to 3 days of traveling from each other.
One day early in the evening the smell of roasted beef and heavy seasoning filled the air of the Halfling's home. Music can be heard from outside, laughter, conversations, and arguing was heard throughout the lantern lit sitting area.
Corrin's vision was being flooded with more and more people, his head filled with more smells, music and noise. It was all so cheery and happy and loud he thought, trying to suppress a sinking feeling slowly creeping up its way: I shouldn't be here.
Over time as spring grew ever closer, the flowers bloomed on the vast grassland mass. The Halfling families gathered around for the holiday meal, as more people showed up the feelings and thoughts did the same. A little whisper found its way to Corrin's ear "I can help you" "I know how you're feeling"
It didn’t sound like it came from someone, it was just like Corrin talked to himself, but… it wasn’t his thinking voice. The whisper continued talking to him but it got harder and harder to focus on it. As the music grew louder and the number of people grew higher the voice disappeared into the background, and Corrin got overwhelmed. It was all too much for him to handle.
The thoughts and feelings Corrin was trying to sweep under the rug crept up again without his knowledge. They'll be better without me. I'm weak. I shouldn't trust them. Through all that the whisper was telling him his feelings were justified.
He developed tunnel vision, he couldn’t see anything that conflicted with his feelings. They are just intrusive thoughts, in the scale of things it's unimportant, Corrin told himself.
Outside his own head things carried on as usual. Everything was normal, so Corrin didn’t want to bother his friends and family more than he needed to. He thought he could take care of this. He tried to correct it. He tried to get better, to be better, but nothing was effective.
No one else seemed so obsessed with it, things were desperate until the whisper came back "I can help you feel better, trust me." "I'll help you be better" It seemed treacherous but it said to have faith in it. Corrin wasn’t sure if it was wise to listen. He thought: what could it hurt to try?
Once a cheery and happy Halfling became distant as he increasingly believed in his own lies. The whisper came to be a daily occurrence, and slowly, Corrin started talking back to it. At first just yes or no responses, then, full sentences then, he was talking to it more than he talked to anyone else in his life at that time.
Corrin kept going, listening to the voice, foolishly thinking this is what he needed to do. He kept feeling that he deserves to go through all this mess. No one else should suffer with him.
The days came and went, and all seemingly repeating.
Every time Corrin woke up to a new day he wished more than anything that this time, he would wake up and everything will be fine. But that day never came."
