Imperial Human

It is said that the humans of the Veston Imperium are forged in suffering.  From their earliest stories, the humans that now make the Dark North their home were slaves to a powerful Elven Magistra in the Age of the Star who, in a desire for completely control over her property, had every single one magically severed from their connection to the Flow of magic that every living thing is tied to.  This action was so devastating that it would be passed on from parent to child, from generation to generation, until present day where no man or woman in the Imperium has the ability to wield magic.   However, suffering breeds ingenuity.  The humans of the Dark North were not ones to quit.  After fleeing the Elves, and being spared the wrath of the dragons, the humans forged a new empire and developed in new and unheard ways to compensate for what was lost: Technology.  Built from the powerful crystals found mining the rocky peaks of the Dark North, the Imperium found ways to extract the magic not through any connection to the Flow but through the brute force of machinery. Asserting dominance over the natural world they were denied.   Now the Veston Imperium stands as one of the most powerful forces in the world.  No longer afraid of the magic they lost, they have built a new destiny for themselves.
