God Stones

Overview

Tangible, double-fist sized spheres that are strongly believed to be the stone, or dormant, physical forms of the gods. There are eight in total, one for each god, and all lay hidden deep within the shrines built for the gods.
Characteristics
Each God Stone is locked deep within the shrine of the god they most resemble. Faded records note of the gods shrinking into stone form and returning to their shrines during the cataclysm that rocked the world and split the land into two masses. Even older records, from deep within the Age of Legends, describe the appearance of each stone, though few records exist that describe the gods in enough detail for a comparison.   The stone resembling the Maker of Gods is colored with deep blues with a three section pattern. The stone associated with the Destroyer of Gods has shades of purple and like its counterpart, has a three section pattern. The God of Winter's stone is shades of white with a four section pattern, while the God of Summer's stone has vibrant reds in a five section pattern. Soft greens in a two section pattern decorate the God of Joy's stone while vivid oranges in a four section pattern cover the God of Sorrow's stone. The stone of the God of Speed has shades of deep pink in a two section pattern and the stone of the God of Strength has light yellows in a five section pattern.
History
When the cold age that spurred the evolution of the Gendirlo ended, the Gendirlo celebrated these gods for bringing a return of favorable weather. These Gendirlo found these God Stones in various places and sought to build shrines to house each one. The shrines were built so that no one could open them up and steal the stones, for the Gendirlo appeared to believe that the God Stones truly were dormant forms of the gods. But by being locked up, no one would know if the gods still resided in the shrine or not.   During the era of the Age of Legends where Gendirlo were granted powers from the gods, few thought to check if the shrines still held the God Stones. Those that questioned their placement were unable to act upon their curiosity. Reports of the actual gods across the land showed that the gods were active and affecting the land in many ways.   One difficult to read record states that when the gods finally calmed and turned dormant, a gash in the land filled with water and all Gendirlo found themselves in places they had not been. Some speak of glowing stones approaching the shrines and disappearing within, though the record keeper was more concerned with the sudden shift in the land and everyone's location, and what that meant for existing records.   Occasionally through time, Gendirlo, and later humans, have visited some of these shrines in search of the God Stones. Humans have the advantage of tools, and have been successful in opening up portions of these shrines, but have never chanced upon a stone. Yet the Gendirlo maintain that the gods are dormant and in their stone form, and those God Stones rest somewhere in each shrine.
