Erythrius the Patient

A dragon might live centuries or millennia, making the few decade lifespans of most humanoids seem a mere pittance. The great cobalt dragon, Erythrius, has found himself a clever solution to this problem: befriending Elves. True, his Aven subjects only live for a century or so, but that is still longer than most humans. But it is with the elves that Erythrius is most closely bonded. Their pace of life is slower, more decedent, and perhaps apathetic. There is simply more time to do anything and everything. When indulging with his elven subjects, Erythrius often adopts the shape of an elegant elf himself, simply called the Patrician. This situation creates a unique dynamic between dragons and their elven riders. Generally the young dragons who choose to bond with a rider are knowingly sacrificing the majority of their lifespan in the process, but not so with elves. When an elf is born to a noble bloodline they may be bonded with a dragon egg. The pair will then grow and develop together for hundreds of years or more.
