The Gloomwood Forest

The Gloomwood Forest lies on the outskirts of the The rotten domain, a thick canopy of ancient trees that seems to swallow the light, leaving the forest floor in perpetual twilight. Unlike the The Mire of Desolation with its wet, open expanses, Gloomwood is a dense, almost claustrophobic, tangle of vegetation, filled with moss-covered trunks and vines that hang like curtains. The air is thick with the earthy scent of decomposing leaves, mixed with an inexplicable hint of sweetness. It's a place that invites legends. The locals whisper of apparitions that walk the forest floor, their ghostly figures barely distinguishable in the dim light filtering through the canopy. The air is often filled with eerie, melodious whispers. Some say they are the voices of long-departed souls; others argue they are just the wind, flowing through the tight labyrinth of trees and plants.   Despite its reputation for being haunted, Gloomwood is also known as a treasure trove of unique herbs, mushrooms, and roots. These rare items are sought after by alchemists and herbalists, who brave the forest's unsettling ambiance to gather ingredients for powerful concoctions.   The Rotten Lord- origins and ascent has a particular interest in Gloomwood, often sending scouts and foragers to collect specimens for research, as the forest's unique biodiversity is integral to many of his schemes. While many have attempted to map this enigmatic forest, none have succeeded. Like a living, breathing entity, the forest seems to rearrange itself, making every journey into its depths a trek into the unknown.
