Ölanar Óal

Útelic: Ölanar Óal /œːlanar ouːal/
Zakeran dialect: Ölanar Óal /œːlãnãr ouːãl/
Ölanar Óal is a village in southern Malónat, one of the three countries of the Útels. Located along the road connecting southern Malónat to Anedúþal, capital of Kaiqonon to the east, Ölanar Óal is one of the remotest settlements in Malónat, with the closest neighbours being the villages of Keróal to the southeast, Maþrúla to the northeast and city of Danþyl to the west, being two, three and four days journeys away, respectively. For travelers on their way from Danþyl, the village is a welcome sight after trudging through the dense woods and constantly being on guard for Ölan Panthers or, to lesser extent, outlaws on the way.
There they can rest, tend to injuries and stock up on supplies needed for the road ahead while enjoying the locals' hospitality, especially the food. Notable dishes associated with the settlement are scrambled ykan eggs flavoured with a mix of palók and varúan and served with cabbage, and roasted vem with cabbage and þavúk roots. The latter is a variation of a dish common to region which usually contains rabbit meat instead.
The name Ölanar Óal roughly means Southern Place of Ölan Panthers, distinguishing the village from Ölanar Öða in central Malónat, though the animals have now been all but extirpated from the woods surrounding the latter settlement.

Demographics

Most of the villagers belong to the Zakeran tribe inhabiting southern Malónat, along with a few descendants of Kaiqons hailing from the east.

Industry & Trade

Aside from trade, the people of Ölanar Óal mostly grow útel cabbages, þavúk roots, gaþól fruits and Aned'ber Flowers -the latter which are integral for Útel ancestor worship-, raise ykan birds (particularly Splendid Ykans) and vems, and hunt ölan panthers for their skins, claws and teeth. Their featherwork in the form of formal cloaks and bracelets are renowned throughout the region, which are often exchanged for metals, dried vipló fruits or wine flavoured with them.
