Jaleros
Jaleros /ja:lɛrɔ:s/ is one of the four Ameder colonies1 on the western edge of the Plain of Spirits along the coast of Klalaþan Sea, connecting their city-states in Kanix Forest to the north to the Útels of Ela'k Forest to the south.
It was established by Ameders from the city-state of Yþól during the sixth century a.Dr, both to ease trade between their Útel brethren by providing a safe outpost against the centaur-like Knárs native to the region, and to produce certain cereals and vegetables for that would be all but impossible to grow in Kanix Forest. Jaleros is the colony which most Útels visit as it's the southernmost one, and has a small but notable community of Útels living there as well, mostly members of the farmers' caste who also act as interpreters.

Territories
Currently, the colony effectively only rules the immediate area around the town, though the aristocracy in Yþól has plans for expanding the territory upriver.
Infrastructure
Jaleros is centered on a town on the northern bank of Móerga River, protected from Knárs via palisade to the north and southeast and a mound of rammed earth to the east, the latter built by the Móerkels of old, ancestors of the Mörkels and Þrihaks far to the east and descendants of Útels much like the Ameders.
The mound gives a good view of the plains and sea, and archers are stationed there during Knár raids, which are not uncommon. It's also where the governor's home is located.
