Púlraal Trees

Púlraal trees1 are small fruit-bearing trees native to northeastern Vorran Peninsula in western Dragonía, were been introduced to much of the rest of the peninsula by the reptilian Kroks since they migrated to the region around 4.500 b.Dr.
Today, there exist a number of different varieties of púlraal trees that are suitable for various environments, some of which are cultivated mainly for the timber but the vast majority for the fruits, which are one of the staple foods of Krokish cuisine. When in season, the fruits can be eaten fresh or cooked in number of ways which vary from one territory to another, outside of which the most common process is to peel them and let ferment in special pits, sometimes for years, thus creating a sour paste which is ubiquitous in Krokish cooking.
The latter method is necessary for preserving the fruits in the tropical environment of Vorran Peninsula, as they become unappetizing and prone to mold when dried. The Kroks on the western peninsula often trade spices, Lightstones and other goods in exchange for púlraal paste, as their land is the only one where cultivating the trees has proven difficult, and the paste is sometimes sold to the humanoid Jaarels living beneath the Vúrakesen Mountains to the east.
