Deadwood, The

What could only loosely be called a forest is more closely resembling a grove of dead trees along the eastern edge of Dracheim's territory. A millenia ago, the forest was alive and full of trees by northern standards. When the dragons returned and conflict swept the land, the forest was entirely destroyed and burnt down in a maliscious effort to cripple the mortals ability to live in the north. When the conflict ended and the accord was signed, all that remained was ash. In the centuries that followed, the trees slowly began to return to the scarred land. While some were healthy pines, just as before, many held barren branches and brittle bark. The trees, even as saplings, were dead. Somehow, these dead saplings continued to grow into fully sized trees but remained dead all the same. Nothing would grow from its leaves and the wood was brittle and weak. While it could serve as firewood, it would not be suitable for lumber. Over time the forest grew. As it grew, more and more of the trees became "deadwood" and the healthy trees became a rarity. The forest was abandoned for any harvesting efforts and it became known as The Deadwood.
