The Stone Willow

In the middle of the lost city of Avalon , a tree made of stone stands 35 meters tall. With its ground-sweeping branches, it is a spitting image of the weeping willows of the mundane world - or maybe, and more likely, it is the other way around, and the mundane trees are the spitting images of this magnificent tree. It would be easy to presume that this huge monument was created by a very talented sculptor, one whose talents have no match in the mundane world of the Fae, but in fact, it is not a statue at all; it is The Stone Willow, the petrified remains of the original Dream Willow that brough the first Fae with it. Or so is the legend.

Purpose / Function

As one of the Dream Willow , The Stone Willow is believed to have been a vehicle for inter-realm travelling. However, in its current, petrified state - if it even truly exists, that is - it is but a sight to admire.
Some legends suggest that should someone be able to speak the true name of the Stone Willow, it would come back to life and be able to travel once more.

Alterations

Once a sacred sight for the Fae of Avalon , a sacred garden is said to have been build around its resting place. The garden was filled with trees, little ponds and meandering pathways, all of which were placed carefully to create a meditative atmosphere. To approach the Stone Willow one had to take their time to go through this grove-like garden first, to ensure that no-one would disturb the peaceful slumber of the tree.
