Thorn Court

When a murder occurs during the Great Solstice Celebration and the Courts of Summer and Winter start to blame each other, it is the knights of the Thorn Court who are called to action before a full blown war between the Courts can break out. As a neutral third party, Thorn Court holds no alliances, takes no bribes and works outside of the traditional system of the Fae Courts. The murderer will be brought to justice, peace will be kept, and the good Folk can sleep safe and sound when the Thorn Knights are keeping watch.

Structure

Thorn Court comprise five ranks:   I Commander of the Red Rose (also known as the Grand Commander, usually only one holder at a time)
II Commander of the Purple Rose
III Commander of the Blue Rose
IV Knight of the Yellow Rose
V Knight of the White Rose
Before the knighting ceremony, those who serve under the Thorn Court are known as Squires.

Public Agenda

The Thorn Court was established to maintain and order among the Folk, as well as to enforce the law and to ensure the safety among the faekind. In mundane terms, they can be regarded as the police force among the Courts. One of the most important aspect of the Thorn Court is and has always been that they have no alliances with the other Courts, nor any other ties to them, thus making them a unique neutral party. At least in theory.

To Become a Thorn Knight

Unlike with the other Fae Courts, a person is never born to be a member of the Thorn Court, but they become one only after taking their vows in the early adulthood. Before the vows, they are regarded as a member of the Court of their parents. A person with both of their parents in the Thorn Court is not unheard of, and in this situation, they are under the protection of the Thorn Court in a similar way a person would be under the protection of any other Court. However, they are not seen as a member of the Court, putting them in a rather unique situation. Should a child of two Thorn Courtiers decide not to join the ranks of the knightly order when they reach adulthood, they can seek to become a member of any of the ordinary Courts.
