Goddess' Bane
Crates full of dynamite are marked only by a crudely carved smiley face with its tongue sticking out. An ominous shadow lurks atop the waves on a moonlit night, fire blazing from the shore as yet another coastal town is pillaged. From one of the notorious pirate captains, you look at a pendant depicting Varoona, bound and blindfolded as the shadow of a dark entity wraps around her.
The Goddess' Bane is a notorious large pirate conglomerate that has been terrorizing the southern seas for centuries, but truly rose to prominence in the past century following the reign of the Pirate Lord known as the Scourge of the Sea. Now the Goddess' Bane is led by Pirate Lord Janos Liderc and his captains.
It seems that Janos Liderc has some association with Olivantha... the nature of this association remains to be discovered.
Goals and Aims
Nothing is known yet about the aims of the conglomerate besides, perhaps, terrorizing the southern coast and obtaining wealth. First Mate Jonas mentioned that Pirate Lord Janos Liderc has always enjoyed stirring up trouble near festival time.Captains
Pirate Captain Lyra Malark Captain Lyra Malark and her crew were first encountered outside of the city of Varoona Proper. It seems Captain Lyra had been tasked with blowing up a portion of the Sello River with the intention of finding... well, they would certainly know when they found it. Now that Lyra has been turned in, it seems the party may never know what Captain Lyra was sent to do... or if she accomplished her goal. According to King Dorephan, although her captain has been captured, the fleet is still active. Pirate Captain Francis Morgan Captain Francis Morgan does not have a reputation that precedes him as he is one of the newer captains in service to the Pirate Lord. However, according to King Dorephan, Francis' flagship is called The Malevolent and is gaudy and glittering as her captain. This captain's fleet is known for its speed. It seems King Dorephan's scouts have not seen the Captain aboard his vessel in some time, but their have been no reports of his capture or death either. Pirate Captain Porysis Sozsatos Known as the Serpent Captain of Swords, Captain Porysis Sozsatos is a well-known slaver who has been terrorizing the southern coast of Dremora for at least 5 years. The Captain's flagship is known as the Serpent's Envy and is immediately recognizable by the scaled pattern it displays across the hull. King Dorephan reports that Captain Porysis' fleet has been sailing between Carmenthia and Port Oceana ransacking villages along the coast... supposedly to acquire slaves. Pirate Captain Hai Rong Fisherman claim that the sunny day at sea quickly turned to overcast and a feeling of cold dread settled over them. The waves churned despite there being no wind before the sea parted, allowing a monstrous, barnacle covered vessel to lurch forward, spewing water from every crack and crevice as it settled on the surface. From atop the deck, they could hear the sound of an eerie sea shanty being sung, but saw no crew aboard... until the figure of a woman appeared. All of them claim that she was, at first, dressed in fine garbs with silken scarves around her neck, until she turned to face them. Her visage of elegance morphed to one of decay as her eyes pierced into their souls. They call her the Devil of the Sea... Madame Hai Rong. King Dorephan expressed concern about this captain. Sightings have been mostly reported by locals, primarily fisherman. King Dorephan's scouts have been unable to pin down this elusive ship's location.
