Thyron

Hands clasped in front of him and donning a relaxed smile with eyes closed is a middle-aged tiefling man wreathed in a thin aura of green, black, and gray. Despite his relaxed posture and his general calm demeanor, there is mischief in his eyes that even death could not snuff out completely. In his afterlife, he has chosen to spend his time amidst the Court of Ah'Shal, working and laboring to support the overworked Goddess of the Dead. Although in death he is but a humble servant, Thyron's life was a storyteller's dream. A mischief maker in his youth and notorious pirate captain, Thyron had no qualms with taunting the gods... including the Goddess of Death. When she came for him early, he struck a deal. He'd give it all up! The mischief! The looting! The raiding! The men and women! He'd go serve as a boring Acolyte. And serve he did... maliciously compliant and a menace of an Acolyte. As a man who was used to giving orders and bowing to no man, he quickly learned that while he couldn't take the Overlords on with brawn, he could outsmart them. In his later years, he found himself being named High Priest and vouching for an abandoned child. Although their relationship had been shattered, he buried whatever pride that remained to seek Tel'Rhea's intercession... and reminisce about his youth while looking at the rolling waves in the Bay.
Thyron understands, perhaps more than anyone, that death can be the best setting for a joke. When the seriousness of death surrounds one, humor can carry an uplifting lightness. In the beginning, his service to the Goddess of Death was an obligation, but he now carries a great deal of respect for her and sees it as his obligation to serve as her jester, in many ways. What once was a bargain to avoid his own death has now been something he embraced willingly. For in the end, even death requires a friend.
